Myself and my mentor...

...pictured here circa 1997 at Art Center College of Design. Norman Schureman was such an awesome teacher/mentor that I learned so much from. Because of him...he pushed and encouraged me to be the artist/designer that I am today. I greatly miss him.

I thank my sister who pulled this picture out from her collection of pics sometime ago. I now have it on my drawing board.

A page from my Sketchbook...

Hey all, how are you all doing? Hopefully well...and trucking along. How about the U.S. being downgraded to AA from a AAA rating? I think it's sad...we're a bunch of losers in this country. Being born and raised here in the U S of A...I will lump myself with the good and the BAD coming from this country....now the stock market has took a dive...by 600+ points...oh joy.

I wanted to upload a page from my new sketchbook for all of you to check out....let me know what you all think? Good....OK....or shit?

No matter what happens in the past few days, weeks, months, years in this world we live in.... Keep on drawing...stay creative!

Take care,
Axel

Sneak peek...

Sneak peek of one of my doodles being produced as t-shirt graphics through Inside the Orange. These shirts will be coming out for the Fall/Winter seasons.
Looking forward how the rest of the shirts will turn out. I believe these shirts will be available online through the Inside the Orange site.

I'll catch you all later.

Where and....there?

Here's a piece I scanned from my SF#2 sketchbook. Let me know what you all think?
This piece was done using a straight Pilot pen size .25...really small tip.

Hopefully, I'll get all the pages to this sketchbook scanned so I can put it together as a small art book that I can put out there for all of you to get a chance to buy a copy.

Dang, It's already Wednesday...just last week Wednesday I was already in San Diego...man that whole Comic Con experience is such a blur. Need to recover...getting back to work mode...has been slow.

Have a good work week and enjoy the rest of your week.

Cheers,
Axel

Tom Morello...

...performing a private concert during Comic Con '11 this was put together by the good folks at Trickster.

Please excuse my bad camera work here...normally I'm pretty good at shooting video.

Both Axels finally meet!

Hey all! I got back from 6 days in San Diego for Comic Con...man...I'm beat. Now trying to get back to work mode....which is gonna be a bit hard. :P

Well, I finally got a chance to meet up with Axel Alonso, Editor in Chief of Marvel Comics. We tried and failed at Wonder Con...but made it happen in San Diego. Super cool dude....we chatted for a bit and talked about how we ended being named Axel...he gave me his story and I gave him mine. Hopefully, I'll get a chance to meet up with him again when I go back to New York City. I uploaded an image of us two at the Marvel booth.

For Comic Con 2011..overall it was a cool convention...good lord there was a crap load of folks walking that convention floor....but what else is new in that front? :P
Well, I'll catch you all later...soon with a new sketch.

cheers,
axel

A monster cover

Hello all, just wanted to upload an image I did sometime ago...a cover for an upcoming book for a client of mine. Hope you dig it?

I'll be heading to Comic Con this week...so hopefully I'll see you all there? I will be walking around the floor...I should be at two booths...but I forgot where exactly where I'm suppose to go? :P

Well, I'll catch you all later...have an awesome work week!

Cheers,
Axel
